The Big Catch
By: Trenton K.
When I was eight years old I had a amazing catch that was super hard. It started with a huddle with the coach me and my teammates. Then we went up to the line of scrimmage and waited for the ball to be snapped. When the ball was snapped I took off running while the QB looked for an open guy. Then he finally found me and threw it he threw it a little to high so I jumped for it and caught it and got one of my feet down to complete the catch.
After the the QB said hike I ran a fly route to get open. When the QB got the ball I looked back for it. The QB was looking around for an open guy and found me. He waited for a second to make sure I was open then he threw it. While the ball was in the air I followed it with my eyes until I realized that I needed to jump. When I jumped I barely got enough height to catch the ball.
After I caught the ball I still needed to do one thing get my foot down! So after I caught the ball I only needed one foot down so I reached as far as I could. Then I barely got my foot down to make the catch. When I got my down I didn’t have any balance so I just fell out of bounds. Then I finally hit the ground hard.
When the crowd saw I made the catch they went wild. When the crowd saw that I had control of the ball and my foot was down they went crazy. When I got up I got high-fives from the coaches my teammates and so many other people. After all that we got in a huddle and my coach called a play to me. When the QB said hike I ran my route and caught the ball for a touchdown.
So as you can see this is probably one of my most favorite childhood memories. After all that I’ve had a lot more catches like that in football that were even harder to do. As I learn more and more about football I could make some of the best catches ever in football history. As I get older i might not like football as much anymore but I will always cherish that memory. And I will always remember my best coach ever my Dad.
